Light Reading

Here are a couple of things that are worth reading on this snowy morning in Chicago:

  • This is a pleasing little gem from the Atlantic about a crow that likes to sled.
  • Here is a good little article about the early sit in movement in Chicago in the 1940s.
  • Do you own too much stuff?  Here is a blog posting from a tech entrepreneur who claims to own only 15 things.
  • Finally, this is an amusing piece entitled, “Everything I need to know about startups, I learned from a crime boss,” from Donald DeSantis on GigaOm.com

Love the crime boss piece. For various reasons, I can relate.

Do I own too much stuff? Probably.
But fifteen things is something else. Hope he never ends up visiting anywhere cold ;)

But his story reminds me of the line in the George Clooney movie 'Up in the air'. The line is “the slower we move, the faster we die”. Hence, we can soar higher, move faster and enjoy life more if there is less personal stuff to weigh us down.

jolene, I think it would be a good idea to simplify things generally. I love that movie.

I've lived that way before - with only a few clothes that would fit in a small backpack, but I was young and I was traveling. It was a very good life actually.

rj, I guess I believe in the Buddhist idea of not being attached to things.

Interesting post today. I especially like the crow who sleds. What an intelligent, fun loving or smart (?) bird but what a sweet video as the family is enjoying this sight together.

cheers, parsnip
