I have come across some interesting reading matter recently which you might want to take a look at:
- This is a good article from The Guardian about the disturbing trend of school police officers arresting young school children in the State of Texas for mostly minor offenses.
- Are you searching for an interesting vacation spot? In the Philippines you can stay at a Nuclear Power plant that was constructed but never turned on. It even has a beach. You can check it out here.
- Is yoga dangerous? This article posits that it might be so.
- Here is another example of how the United States continues to be a bad world actor regarding Intellectual property and the imposition of its will on other nations.
- Strangely it is not that unusual for nations to be at war with other and yet still engage in trade while the hostilities are still going on. You can read a short piece about it here.
- Here is a review of a promising Chinese novel entitled, “Under The Hawthorn Tree,” by the pseudonymous and somewhat mysterious, Ai Mi. It is already a best selling book in China and should be released soon here in the West. I am looking forward to reading it when it is released.

And, another reason not to move to Texas.
I'll never forget the terrible shock I got when I was four or five years old and walked in on my friend's dad who was doing yoga. He was from India, and he was in a shoulder stand, so high and perfect, I believed he had somehow removed his head.
pc, I am afraid the criminalization of juvenile conduct is going on everywhere. Yoga looks so painful to inflexible me.
Dream vacation this nuclear power plant. To say the least, it would read well in a Christmas letter.
Texas either has little or no crime and so the officers have to have something to do --or-- Texas has little or no brains and so the officers have to have something to do.
Okay, will look at this stuff....you come up with the wildest stuff.
Why am I surprised?
The book sounds wonderful...
cheers, parsnip
My husband is in Nuclear power and we live about 3 hours, by plane, from the Philippines. I see a vacation in our future!
Yeah, I read that article about yoga in the nyt, and thought about the way some people mis-use yoga; it's true, you can really get hurt, but only if you push it too far. Some of the best yoga moves are so subtle.
Now I must read the article about vacationing in a nuclear power plant (what a creative idea!)
'Here is another example of how the United States continues to be a bad world actor regarding Intellectual property and the imposition of its will on other nations.'
:(
I read and rather enjoyed that yoga article...brought up some good points. Practice with intensity...not pain!
carole, I certainly think it would make for a great travel story!
nsss, hmm, I am not sure.
ap, it does. I am looking forward to it.
meg, road/boat trip!
kerry, all I can think of when I ponder yoga is, "the pain, the pain!"
suze, it is sorrowful.
caroline, I thought it was a reasonable article.
