Pick Me Up

I was listening on the internet to a radio broadcast from ABC radio in New South Wales and came across this drink which turned out to be quite tasty (I have changed it a bit but the spirit is the same).  Thus from our friends in Australia, here is something to make your week better:

Kate’s Strawberry Cocktail

  • 6 ounces of vodka
  • 5 limes
  • Fresh strawberries
  • 12 ounces of Ginger Beer
  • ice

Imagine yourself in a deck chair in sunny Australia.  You are wearing a fine hat to protect your sacred head.  You are thirsty though, so you find your blender and squeeze the five limes into it.  Then you toss in the strawberries and add the vodka and ginger beer.  Fill the the rest of the blender with ice.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into a tall glass.  Consume.  Repeat as needed.

Looks good. Will you make some for us all here?

The repeat as needed seems to be the best ingredient. Seriously, this sounds like an excellent and tasty serious drink for sitting out on the deck in sunny Australia while talking about the affairs of the world.

Ro, come on over, we can have one on my porch.

Rj, if only one could live in Australia.

In my experience with Aussies, sitting on a porch under the blazing Aussie sun drinking a cocktail is not something any Aussie bloke could do without being labeled a "flaming poofter"
Beer...yes
More beer...yes
Gin and Tonic...just
Anything with fruit...no

But I must admit, it sounds as if it would be delicious from the recipe.

Tsb, fair point. Thankfully I like beer.

I do not like recipes because 1. I do not like to have to follow instructions and, 2. I adore throwing things together and see where it gets me.. In this one, the part I like best is 'Repeat as needed"

Tib, I changed the recipe some and so should you. Creativity is encouraged.

That would taste good in Hawaii too, but we would use papaya or mangoes...

Cheers...

Sacred head?

suze, the head is the place where one's brain reposes. No brain, no person, hence the sacredness of the head.
