- Play with the stupidest people possible.
- Don’t tilt.
- Embrace variance, it is your friend.
- It is always useful to appear to be what you are not.
- Planning ahead is mandatory.
- Seek to make your decisions as simple as possible.
nota bene: These are too simplistic of course, but that does not make them wrong.

My mother was brilliant a number 4. She was valedictorian of a class of 850. Math was her specialty. People always seemed to forget that as she sat there, braided hair, polyester pants, overblouse and saddle shoes. She would open her big blue eyes and look around vacantly a moment, ask what the bid was.
Her laugh was downright evil as she would rake in her armloads of change from the men who just never seemed to get that she knew every card played, all the odds, and precisely when to hold 'em.
Sometimes the stupidest people possible are people who believe they are unbeatable.
LOVE don't tilt...
I like six. No wait, I freaking lurve six.
Love @jeannetteLS story !
I don't know what #2 means in Poker but in general I try not to tilt... falling down is not a good idea for me.
cheers, parsnip
Jeanette, I agree. Often it is good to have people underestimate you. I would have liked to have played with her.
Suze, it is a useful rule of life in many areas.
Ap, it means that it is quite bad to lose emotional control.
Great reminders.
Pl, returning to basics is always reasonable
I see you're applying number 4. Misdirection.
I have one question...
How good is your pokerface?
ac, I am a great believer in misdirection.
jolene, legendary.
Good to know.
:)
I must learn to play poker before I die. But that means I will start out as the stupidest person, which is quite intimidating.
jolene, I wish I could take credit for it but it mostly genetic I think.
kerry, it is only by being willing to be the stupid person can one hope to learn effectively in almost any sphere.
Could also be general rules for life.
I often wonder what it your brain would look like in an MRI.
Tsb, sounds reasonable.
Nsss, I had that done. My brain looks a bit sad.
"kerry, it is only by being willing to be the stupid person can one hope to learn effectively in almost any sphere."
Well. I must be brilliant by now, PLUS I am so good at misdirecting everyone about that that I've fooled myself to boot!
jeanette, I often find that reading basic books in fields in which I am knowledgeable is quite useful as the simplest truths are often misapplied or are not really totally understood. Small steps in all things leads to good results in the long run.
