Two Thoughts

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

and

“The good life is a process, not a state of being.  It is a direction not a destination.”

Carl Rogers

Possibly, but the problem is initially seeing yourself as you actually are. We all have our preconceptions and ideas of our own self-image, but they are often erroneous.

"O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us." (Robert Burns)

I do agree with the second quote, although sometimes I think The good life depends on a modicum of alcohol and /or drugs to numb the unpleasant attributes of reality

since I have become an amateur photographer, I realize that people see themselves rather differently from what the pictures show.... and therefore often object to the use of those lovely pictures..
this is just another thought in the spirit of your two thoughts of today

The first one is tough to carry out in practice.

The first one tells me I will never be able to change. Ha.

The good life is direction? Hmmm. I wouldn't know.

Such a cynic I am today. :)

Reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. (Einstein)

tsb, there are illusions and there are illusions ...

tib, facing the truth is often fraught.

pc, so true.

rj, you know what they say about cynics.

ac, that is what the philosopher/mathematician Frank Ramsey would have called a redundant truth.

I don't want to change anything today.

Except maybe my underwear if I go out tonight.
