Reflecting

Memorial Day is almost upon us in the United States, reminding us that many people have lost their lives in defense of their country.  One can only hope there will be a day when war is obsolete, and peace and harmony are the only way forward.

Indeed. Most anyone who has ever served in a war is aware of its utter futility and waste. Too bad the politicians don't pay more attention to what the soldiers have to tell them.

It's a good wish. And not too Pollyanna-ish. After all, we are killing far few of each other now than we used to. Wars are still horrific, but the body counts are nothing like what they were in the 20th century. Or the 1st.
